UCLA is now the new No. 1 public university in the US.

In U.S. News & World Report 2017 Best Colleges rankings, UCLA was ranked 2nd, in 2018 UCLA tied with Cal for 1st, and in the 2019 report UCLA has pushed clear, and is the outright #1 Public University in the US. An accolade that Cal had held for almost the previous 20 years.

UCLA is also No. 1 in Forbes’ 2018 ranking of the 300 best value colleges and universities in the United States. The University of California system excelled in the rankings, which were announced today, placing six campuses in the top 20: UC Berkeley (No. 2), UC Irvine (No. 4), UC San Diego (No. 9), UC Santa Barbara (No. 11) and UC Davis (No. 13).

UCLA consistently performs well in multiple rankings that use a wide range of criteria. During Fall 2017, UCLA was named the No. 1 public institution in the nation in three separate assessments: U.S News and World Report Best Colleges rankings, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education Top Colleges rankings.

High School Athletes

UCLA Crew is a great way to continue your competitive rowing career at the collegiate level. Ideal candidates will have the desire and work ethic to be a positive contributor to our competitive program.

All incoming freshman with experience will train with the varsity squad in the fall. We still believe in the team building benefits of the Freshman class, so the focus will be on creating competitive Freshman crews. Athletes who demonstrate they can make our Varsity Eight faster will have the opportunity to compete for sets in that boat.

College transfers

In December 2018 UCLA was again ranked as the #1 college for Transfer Students in the country. We encourage junior college athletes to consider UCLA as a great way of continuing their academic and athletic careers.

Junior college athletes interested in transferring to UCLA must submit the UC Application for Undergraduate Admission and Scholarships and meet the requirements of the UCLA transfer system. Every year we take some transfer students as Walk On athletes, so no rowing experience in needed is you are motivated to work hard, and compete for UCLA.

For assistance in becoming a successful transfer choosing the right major is important. For options and information on admit rates for different majors use this website.
