Over the past five years, UCLA Rowing - and the sport itself - has grown tremendously. It is the aim of the Friends of UCLA Rowing (FOUR) to retain, foster, and drive this growth forward in the years to come. For this to become a reality, we need your help.
The sport of rowing is uncanny in its ability to prepare today's youth for their future by engendering the ideals of standout character, hard work, and a firm dedication to their craft. Our goal is to build upon these ideals by providing resources that will allow a successful transition to professional careers – with the added benefit of strengthening the UCLA Men’s Rowing community as a whole.
As recent graduates of the program can attest, the job market is becoming increasingly competitive, and having any advantage over fellow applicants can go a long way towards landing the first job that will lead to a successful career. It’s here that your experiences can give our oarsmen the assistance they need.
Here is how you can help:
- Career guidance: build and structure resumes, practice interviews, network, mentor, and offer internships or general career advice
- Marketing: aid the program with recruiting and retention (ex. fliers, promotional videos, outreach to competitive high school sports teams, etc)
- Alumni Race Day Organization: live streaming, viewing parties, organized events built around home races
- Corporate sponsorship
- Hosting: housing current rowers during race travel, cooking meals, day-of race support
- Construction: building new oar racks, rig a camera stand for the boats
In addition to the above needs, it’s truly invaluable to hear your rowing stories. We encourage you, our alumni, to share with the current team (and with potential rowers) about how your rowing experience affected your life. It can be of any length - one-liner or a biography - we want to give all our valued alumni a voice. (We will also accept anonymous stories).
We look forward to working together to make UCLA Rowing the best it can be.
